Chris’ culinary journey stared in 2014 when, as a well know South African comedian, he was asked to take part in Celebrity Masterchef South Africa, although he had little to no knowledge of cooking at the time, he entered anyway. To his, and other’s surprise he has a talent for it, and ended up winning the competition, beating Patricia Lewis in the final.

This awakened a passion inside of him for making great food. He has since spent time working with, and learning from some of SA’s top chefs, first and foremost, Pete Goffe Wood (with whom he has also toured a cooking comedy stage show, both locally and internationally) but also the likes of  Siba Mtongana, Ruben Riffel, Arnold Tanzer, Trevor Boyd (Manager of the SA culinary Olympic team for whom he is also the resident MC), The late, Les Da Chef aka Lesego Semenya , Jenny Morris, Benny Msekwameng, Justin Bonello, David Higgs and many others.

As a result, he has become an in demand “Celebrity Chef” being invited to do cooking demo’s all over the country at almost all the big festivals including DSTV delicious, Fire and Feast, Taste, Taste of Jo’burg, Decorex, Coffee and Chocolate, adding inhis unique comedy flavour as he does.

In 2021 he decided to get an official qualification, which he completed at  the HTA school of Culinary Arts and their international partner City Guilds, finishing top of his class with platinum certification.
